General privacy position

I am an avid Internet surfer. So in the spirit of "whatever you want men to do to you, do it to them" I have created this site to protect user privacy the way I would like mine to be protected on sites I visit. I collect the minimum information that is needed to maintain an active, vibrant community of homeschool parents and to support the business transactions on the site.

How your information is used.

• Homeschool Infocenter LLC does not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.



• If you elected to recieve announcements during registration, you will receive infrequent non-commercial messages notifying you of last minute events in your area, announcing changes to the HomeschoolInfocenter.net website, or announcing contests, events or other resources that seem promising.



• Every attempt is made to keep your email address from appearing on the site. Email sent to you through the site makes use of forms which do not display your email address. In this way, people who need to contact you are able to do so, but it prevents spammers from harvesting your email address from the site. Please note that, while someone can contact you without knowing your email address, if you reply to their message you will make your address known to them.



• Privacy cannot be guaranteed for personal information that is entered in free-entry text areas such as calendar event details, support group descriptions or forum messages. If you discover that someone else has entered your personal information, and you wish to have it removed, email me with the details using the 'Contact' link below and I will make every effort to remove it from the site.



• All information submitted to this site should be considered public. Some information will become available on search egines as they scan this site. Some information is viewable only after registering and logging in to the site. Even in this case, however, registration is free and currently unlimited, so you should consider that anyone may have access to the information.



• Homeschool Infocenter LLC reserves the right to disclose your personally identifiable information when it is believed in good faith that an applicable law, regulation, or legal process requires it, or when it is believed disclosure is necessary to protect or enforce Homeschool Infocenter LLC's rights or the rights of another user.

Data that is collected

• All events, forum messages, support groups, links, classifieds and other data continues to be stored in a database, even after "deletion," and may be archived elsewhere.



• HomeschoolInfocenter.net does not employ tracking devices for marketing purposes ("cookies", "web beacons," single-pixel gifs).



• Web logs collect standard web log entries for each page served, including your IP address, page URL, and timestamp. Web logs help diagnose server problems, administer the site, and to otherwise provide services for you.



• Cookies
  Cookies are small text files stored by your browser on your computer when you visit a website. HomeschoolInfocenter.net uses cookies to improve the website and make it easier to use. Cookies permit recognizing you and avoiding repetitive requests for the same information. Most browsers will accept cookies until you change your browser settings to refuse them. You may change your browser's settings to refuse cookies. However, if you do so, you may not be able access certain services.

Data that is stored

• Your password is not stored on HomeschoolInfocenter.net. When you first enter your password it is run through a formula, and only that result is stored. When you enter your password later, it is run through the same formula and the results will match if you have entered the same password. This is a one-way formula, however, so the original password cannot be computed just by knowing the result.



• Credit card information is not stored. Credit card transactions are transacted through a financial gateway.



• Web logs and other records are stored indefinitely, although they may be purged to conserve storage space.



• Please note that search engines and other sites not affiliated with HomeschoolInfocenter.net (such as google.com, yahoo.com and msn.com) archive or otherwise make available any data on this site that is accessible without logging in.
