The tool on the next screen is designed to make it easy for you to get started. Here are instructions for using the tool:

1. On the right side there is a list of some common reasons. Simply drag those reasons that apply to you from the palette on the right side to your custom list on the left side.
2. Once you have your reasons narrowed down, you can then drag them within your list to prioritize them.
3. If you don't see some of your reasons on the list, you can add your own reasons and sort them as well. Your reason will have a red delete icon next to it in case you want to remove it and revise the wording.
4. Finally, once you have the list the way you like it, you can click on the envelope icon to email yourself a copy.

If you are married, it can be helpful for you and your spouse to complete this exercise independently. It can be the basis of an interesting discussion as you understand each other's reasons better and work to weave them together.

This list can also come in handy when you are making curriculum choices, trying to choose whether to go on certain field trips, or making decisions about any other opportunites.

You can revisit your list every year or two. It will be interesting, and maybe enlightening, to see which items have changed or moved in importance, and which have remained the same.
